The Institute held an online networking event with key institutional partner the University of Bonn on 28 September 2023. The meeting was organised by IBANS Co-Director Dr Silvia Paracchini (St Andrews School of Medicine), IBANS Early Career Researcher Representative Dr Stewart Leigh (St Andrews School of Biology), Professor Dr Heinz Beck (Life & Brain Center, University of Bonn), and Professor Waldemar Kolanus (Life & Medical Sciences Institute, University of Bonn).
This event brought together academics from St Andrews and Bonn to discuss their research and future opportunities for collaboration. Speakers from both universities presented on their work, while St Andrews Vice-Principal of Research, Collections, and Innovation Professor Tom Brown and University of Bonn Dean of Medicine Professor Dr Bernd Weber spoke about the benefits of the partnership. St Andrews Business Development Manager Claire Gorby highlighted current funding calls and schemes supporting international collaborations. Break-out groups also provided a forum for more informal discussion.
The event was a fantastic opportunity to strengthen the Institute’s connections with the University of Bonn and lay the groundwork for future joint endeavours.
